Eleven thousand words written in fifteen days. That’s some going when I only get about 90 minutes a day, if I’m lucky, to do my writing. So now my work in progress, The Brittle Sea, stands at 63k words. But there is still a long way to go.

And even when I have finished the first draft, I will still have to go through it at least two or three times to ensure it all flows and hangs together. Then comes the proof reading and then comes editing and probably another run through.

Then, finally, my book will be ready to publish…not! No, publishing will not be happening until I have the cover finalised and I have a few beta readers in place to ensure the book reads well.

And then we have the marketing. Starting with a press release and followed by a few weeks of promotion, giveaways to generate reviews and finally a push on adverting.

And all this with a budget of – $0.00  or £0.00  or  €0.00

You see, in order to be an indie author, you need to wear many hats and on top of that, you also have to be a magician to make it all work without a penny to your name. Now that’s what I call magic.
