Nope, nothing to do with Oasis, though I do like the music. This is to do with a lovely climbing plant. In my Mediterranean garden I have something of a Doctor Jekyll and Mr Hyde plant that smothers the very life out of anything that gets in its way.

As you can see from the pictures it’s a great little climber and grows incredibly fast. The blooms come out only in the morning, hence the name Morning Glory.

But, and it’s a big but, there is a devilish story to this plant, that grows so fast you’ll be lucky to stop it before it takes over an entire fence. I’ve had to stop it throttling my Italian Basil and Rhubarb twice this summer, and that’s only in two weeks. It’s even trying to go over the other side of the pool to my melons.

It’s a beauty, but also a beast you can’t take your eyes off.
