That beast looked at me, but I didn’t flinch. I knew I could look death in the eye and death would blink first. There was that instant, that nano second of uncertainty. Who was going to flinch first? I held my ground.

You cannot afford to waiver in the face of death, because death doesn’t need a second chance and death will take you if you let it. So I stared and I waited and my nerves of steel paid off. Death backed off and shrugged. There were no words, no words were needed. Death knew it had lost this time, but we both knew that in the end, there is always one winner and it’s not always me that wins.

And me, who am I Well, unlike death I have two names. My first name is Birth and my second is Life.
