I can’t believe how time has flown and that it was almost a year ago that I had a fabulous vacation in Lake Como, Italy.
If you have experienced thunderstorms in a mountainous region, especially in this area of Lake Como so close to the alps, you will know how long these storms can last and how loud they can be.
We experienced our first storm last night as we were going into dinner at around eight in the evening. It was still rumbling and flashing lightning at five the next morning. I know, I’m always awake at that time and it’s a little disconcerting when you realise you’re watching lighting bolts while sat on a balcony in a metal chair with metal railings! Needless to say I moved when I finally realised what I was doing.
It looks like our final few days may treat us to interesting weather patterns, so out come the waterproofs and the suntan lotion is packed away. Never mind, we knew the risks coming away this early in the season and besides, I do enjoy a good thunderstorm.
As I write though, the day has cleared and although not fine and sunny throughout, it’s not rained most of the day and we did get a walk in. Today being a rest day and as we have been sightseeing for just over a week, I think we deserve to put our feet up… so we did… and promptly fell asleep.
It’s a hard life this travelling.
